I’m David Dings
The Start
The first computer I’ve played with (that I can remember) as a kid whas the C64. Then got my own DOS computer with CD-ROM drive that had loads of games. Some time later in 2012 I got in to homelabbing and rand Proxmox v2 on a laptop. It had a built-in UPS! From there the snowball started to form.
The best way to improve is to make mistakes, reflect, document and continue breaking stuff. If you are not aware of danger, there is none.
Skillset
I consider myself very knowledgable about (in no particular order).
- Networking protocol troubleshooting (pcap or it didn’t happen)
- Serviceprovider networking
- JNCIS-SP
- Network Engineer @ AS9150
- Routing
- Firewalling (ip/nftables, SRX, pf)
- Linux/unix
Otherwise known with:
- Juniper
- Cisco (CCNA 200-301, expired)
- Datacenter operations
- Optical networking (ADVA, WDMs etc)
- MX systems (smtpd, postfix, dovecot)
- Programming: golang, hobbyist C, some python (yuck)
- surely a bunch of other stuff i take for granted a netEng should know.
TODO
Still need to get my own ASN in the DFZ…
